About the Reference System

The Reference System is a high-fidelity audio setup centered around the Tannoy Canterbury GR loudspeakers, which utilize a dual concentric driver design. This design integrates a high-frequency driver mounted in the center of a 15" Gold Reference bass driver, producing a single integrated wavefront for precise sound imaging and timing. The bass driver features a fiber-enriched paper pulp cone with a twin roll surround for improved damping, delivering over 96dB efficiency. The crossover components are custom-designed with high-quality capacitors, inductors, and resistors, and the entire assembly undergoes deep cryogenic treatment to enhance performance. The system is complemented by HIJIRI H-SLC "Million" speaker cables and Takumi Maestro power cords, which contribute to tonal richness, depth, resolution, and dynamics, resulting in a remarkably natural and immersive listening experience. The system is noted for excellent dynamics, strong midrange selectivity, and a slight warming of the upper treble that enhances cymbal sound without coloration.
