About the Precision 6.2

The Tannoy Precision 6.2 is a luxuriously finished rear-ported floorstanding speaker with a relatively compact footprint. It uses a 150 mm (6") Dual Concentric driver with a 25 mm titanium dome tweeter integrated into a 150 mm bass driver cone, delivering a point-source sound with exceptional coherence and detail. The cabinet includes auxiliary bass radiators for deeper, tighter low-frequency reproduction. The crossover is hard-wired with high-spec components for clean signal integration between drivers, with crossover points at 170 Hz and 1.6 kHz. The speaker features a unique 5-point terminal block for bi-wiring and an earthing terminal to reduce interference. It has a sensitivity of 89 dB, nominal impedance of 8 ohms, and frequency response from 34 Hz to 35 kHz. The Precision 6.2 is praised for its outstanding stereo imaging, spacious soundstage, and faithful reproduction of instrument and vocal detail. Positioning and toe-in are important to optimize the soundstage and imaging. Mass loading options are available to tune bass response further if desired. The build quality is high, with wooden-framed magnetic grilles and a choice of finishes including gloss walnut.
