About the Kensington SE
The Tannoy Kensington SE embodies the Tannoy philosophy of blending traditional craftsmanship with modern acoustic technology. It features the classic Alcomax 3 version of the famous Tannoy Dual Concentric driver with a 10-inch treated paper pulp cone and a 2-inch aluminum alloy dome tweeter with Alnico magnet and PepperPot waveguide. The cabinet is made of braced birch-ply and particleboard with hardwood veneers and solid wooden mouldings, finished in lacquered mahogany veneer with solid walnut edging and trim. The speaker uses Acrolink 99.9999% high purity copper wiring and specially selected crossover components including Hovland capacitors. It offers adjustable high-frequency energy controls for treble energy and roll-off. Bass is managed through the Tannoy Distributed Port System (DPS) with a twin-roll impregnated fabric surround for midrange purity and tight bass. The crossover is bi-wired, hand-wired passive with low loss and time compensation. The Kensington SE is known for its visceral, emotionally engaging sound with a smooth, natural midrange and a wide, focused soundstage, suitable for a variety of music genres. Dimensions are approximately 1100 x 406 x 338 mm (43.5 x 16 x 13.3 inches) and weight is about 37 kg (81.6 lbs). Recommended amplifier power is 20 to 250 Watts, with continuous power handling of 125 Watts RMS, sensitivity of 93 dB, and nominal impedance of 8 Ohms.
