The Tannoy 12 Monitor Gold Dual Concentrics is a 2-way floorstanding 12-inch passive studio main monitor speaker based on the legendary Tannoy SUPER GOLD design. It features the iconic Dual Concentric driver technology, where the woofer and tweeter are merged on the same axis, providing best-in-class phase coherence and true point-source imaging. This design ensures a spherical wave front with extremely even dispersion both vertically and horizontally, resulting in a wide and true sweet spot for listening. The speaker delivers a warm yet detailed soundscape suitable for a wide range of music genres including orchestral, rock, pop, blues, soul, jazz, R’n’B, and heavy metal. The cabinet is designed with high density and extensive bracing incorporating Differential Materials Technology (DMT) for rigidity and optimal low-frequency performance. It includes a front-mounted control panel with a 2-band energy control to compensate for varying acoustic environments. The binding posts are heavy-duty 24 carat multi-layer gold plated for optimum signal transmission. The modern ferrite magnet with copper demodulation rings and high flux magnetic circuit improves performance beyond the original 1970s Alnico design. This model is highly regarded for its heritage, having been used in many iconic recording studios and albums since the 1980s.
