About the CD 1240 R
The T+A CD 1240 R is a sophisticated compact disc player featuring a professional, close-tolerance linear disc mechanism with triple-beam LDGU optics and a 780 nm semiconductor laser. It uses a double differential mode D/A converter system combining two 1-bit Sigma-Delta converters with 256-times oversampling and two multibit 20-bit co-linear DACs in a 2-way circuit, delivering 384 kHz / 24-bit resolution. The player includes a freely programmable DSP with five switchable oversampling filters, separate high-performance transformers for digital and analog power supplies, and additional copper shielding to minimize interference. It offers both optical (Toslink) and coaxial digital outputs, a phase-linear Bessel analog filter, and a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The player supports CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and HDCD formats, with a noise floor of 109 dB and distortion below 0.0015%. Dimensions are 44 x 7.5 x 39 cm (WxHxD), and it weighs 10 kg. Originally released around 2002, it remains highly regarded for its sound quality, surpassing its predecessor, the CD 1220 R.
