About the Precision Couplers
The Symposium Acoustics Precision Couplers are precision machined from solid bars of 7075 aircraft alloy aluminum, known for its extreme hardness, strength, excellent thermal transmission, and self-damping characteristics. Each coupler is a polished, nearly perfectly flat and parallel disc measuring 0.8125 inches (13/16" or 2.06 cm) in height and 1.875 inches (4.76 cm) in diameter. They feature a centrally threaded 1/4-20 hole that allows coupling two units together to form a taller coupler (1.625" or 4.12 cm), attachment to other Symposium products like Rollerblock Jr., or use as a receptacle for spikes and cones to protect floors and improve sound quality. The couplers provide an efficient mechanical connection to components placed on Symposium platforms and rack shelving, effectively damping internal equipment resonances without adding coloration or harshness to the sound. They are recommended for use when components lack suitable feet or footers and are designed to improve mechanical energy drainage and vibration control in high-fidelity audio setups. The Precision Couplers represent an evolution over the previous Large Couplers, offering improved performance and convenience through high precision machining and premium materials. Variants include the Precision Supercoupler and UltraCoupler, which use upgraded materials and coatings for enhanced performance.
