About the 9" original SAT
The original SAT tonearm is a 9-inch long tonearm designed by Marc Gomez, featuring a tapered arm tube made of pre-preg carbon fiber for exceptional rigidity and low resonance. It has a pivot-to-spindle distance of 212.2mm, an overhang of 22.8mm, and an effective length of 235mm. The arm uses large-diameter tungsten-carbide pivots resting on sapphire v-jewels, allowing precise vertical and horizontal bearing adjustments to tailor friction and coupling to cartridge compliance. It is dynamically balanced with rotational axes at the arm's center of gravity to minimize torque and distortion from record warps. The tonearm includes a fixed headshell option for maximum rigidity and uses instrumentation-grade silver-coated copper wiring insulated with PTFE. Vertical tracking force is set by a counterweight and fine-tuning screw, with anti-skating adjustable via a fine thread and pulleys. VTA/SRA adjustments are made by loosening the base clamp and turning a knurled wheel on the arm pillar, which has silkscreened numbers for repeatable settings. The arm is supplied in a Pelican case with tools and a precision alignment gauge. It is renowned for its fast, extended, and well-textured bass response and superior suppression of surface noise, delivering a highly detailed and dynamic analog playback experience.
