About the Duo

The Sutherland Engineering Duo is a dual-mono, two-chassis solid-state phono preamplifier for moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. Each channel has its own enclosure, and gain and cartridge loading are configured independently with supplied gold-plated shunts. Five gain settings are available—40, 46, 52, 58, and 64 dB—as are five loading options: 47k, 1k, 475, 200, and 100 ohms. The Duo uses precision passive components, including polystyrene and polypropylene capacitors and 1% metal-film resistors. It is also available in a Duo LPS version with an internal linear power-supply board incorporating a toroidal transformer and filtering.
