The Sutherland Engineering Dos Locos is a reference-level phono preamplifier that utilizes a transimpedance design to amplify phono signals in current mode, offering superior dynamics and a lower noise floor compared to traditional voltage-mode phono preamps. It is specifically designed for low-output MC cartridges with internal resistance of less than 20 ohms and is not compatible with moving magnet or high-output MC cartridges. The Dos Locos is available in a monoblock configuration, requiring two units for stereo setups but can be used singly for mono cartridges. It features a simple yet elegant circuit design with short signal paths to minimize distortion and maximize signal integrity. The preamp offers three gain settings (low, medium, high) and is designed to provide a rich sound stage with increased depth and exceptional channel separation.
