About the Sauvignon

The Supratek Sauvignon is a two-chassis, all-tube line-level preamplifier from Australian manufacturer Supratek, with a separate valve-regulated power supply. It is based around a high-gain, direct-coupled triode line stage and uses custom transformers, selectable gain, a mute function, and—on some versions—an optional home-theater/processor loop. Reported configurations include four single-ended RCA line inputs, two RCA outputs, and one balanced XLR output. The exact tube complement and connector options vary by production revision: documented examples use matched 6SN7 signal tubes, four 12B4 tubes in an earlier or unused circuit configuration, and a power supply containing one 5AR4 rectifier and two 6L6WGC regulator tubes. Independent laboratory testing reported excellent measured bandwidth, low channel imbalance, 22.67 dB maximum gain, and a maximum output of approximately 3.3 V. The model is a vintage/discontinued design rather than a current product in Supratek’s published portfolio; used examples may differ in finish, circuitry, options, and tube complement.
