About the Cortese LCR Pre
The Supratek Cortese LCR preamplifier is an advanced tube preamp that incorporates a world-first LCR (Inductance, Capacitance, Resistance) network in its phono stage's RIAA equalization circuit, using custom Lundahl inductors for enhanced vividness and midrange realism. It is designed specifically for high-quality low output moving coil cartridges with a sensitivity range of 0.1mV to 0.3mV. The phono stage employs 6688 and 6H23 valves, while the line stage uses 6SN7/6H8C tubes, providing an astonishing 80dB of gain without the need for step-up transformers. The preamplifier offers a frequency response of 10Hz to 30kHz (-3dB), adjustable overall gain from 0dB to 26dB, high input impedance of 100 kOhms, and low output impedance of 40 Ohms, ensuring excellent compatibility with source and amplification components. It features balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs, adjustable gain, and remote control. The line stage is transformer-coupled and designed for accuracy and detail rather than a warm tube sound. The unit is handbuilt in Western Australia by Mick Maloney and is known for its reliability, exquisite aesthetics, and musical performance that brings out the character and expression of music. The Cortese LCR is available in various finishes and is considered a state-of-the-art design that rivals any preamplifier today.
