The SunValley Audio SV-EQ1616D is a full-function all-tube phono equalizer and preamplifier It features point-to-point wiring for the amplification section, supports both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges via a built-in FET headamp for MC, with two independently selectable tonearm inputs. EQ curves include RIAA, London, Columbia, old AES, and settings for US/EU 78s. Tube rectification (274B/5AR4 compatible, solid-state optional) powers the unit. Gain is selectable: MM 35dB (HIGH/LOW ±4dB), MC 22dB +22dB headamp (HIGH/LOW ±2.5dB). Upgrade options include premium tubes (e.g., Gold Lion B759, Brimar), capacitors (VCAP ODAM, Mundorf Supreme), and optional Lundahl MC step-up transformers. Praised by Stereophile (Class A) for its lively, detailed sound described as 'analog on acid'. Made in Japan by Sunvalley, a Toyota Motor Company division.
