About the CRM-2

The Sunfire CRM-2 is a high-performance, two-way bookshelf speaker measuring 8.25" (H) x 5.5" (W) x 6" (D) and weighing 9 lbs. It features a waveguide-loaded neodymium planar magnetic ribbon tweeter that covers frequencies from 1.5 kHz up to 40 kHz, providing exceptional treble detail and pinpoint imaging. The speaker uses dual 4.5-inch high back-EMF drivers mounted on the sides, which fire sideways to create an omnidirectional sound dispersion, enhancing the sense of acoustic space with a 360-degree radiation pattern. This design allows the CRM-2 to produce a remarkably wide and deep soundstage for its size. The drivers have oversized four-layer copper voice coils and suspensions allowing 1-inch excursion, enabling a maximum output of 115 dB and handling amplifier power from 25 to 400 watts. The speaker has an 8-ohm nominal impedance and a sensitivity of 90 dB at 2.83 V/1 meter. The cabinet is finished in a high-gloss ebonized rosewood lacquer with seven coats for a luxurious appearance. The CRM-2 is magnetically shielded and uses gold-plated 5-way binding posts for connections. It is designed for front, surround, or back surround applications in home theater systems. A dedicated center channel version, the CRM-2C, uses the same drivers but with a horizontal tweeter and an acoustic lens for improved center channel dispersion. The CRM-2 is praised for its clarity, dynamics, and ability to deliver the output and presence of much larger speakers despite its small size.
