About the SAT-1000
The Sun Audio Tamura SAT-1000 is a step-up transformer specifically designed for MC phono cartridges, manufactured by Tamura for Sun Audio. It features selectable input impedances of 3, 20, and 40 ohms to match various MC cartridge outputs. The transformer provides output impedance of 4.7k ohms and offers different gain ratios depending on the input impedance: 34dB at 3 ohms, 26dB at 20 ohms, and 23dB at 40 ohms. It covers a wide frequency range from 5 Hz to 80 kHz, ensuring excellent audio fidelity and low distortion. The unit uses a permalloy core, known for its high magnetic permeability and low distortion characteristics. Its compact dimensions are 150 mm width, 85 mm height, and 214 mm depth, with a weight of approximately 3.5 kg. This transformer is highly regarded for its sound quality and is considered one of the best step-up transformers available, often recommended for audiophile MC cartridge applications.
