About the Celebration II
The Sumiko Pearwood Celebration II is a hand-finished, low-output moving-coil phono cartridge designed for high-end analog playback. It uses a rigid pearwood body, an AlNiCo magnet system, a long-grain boron cantilever, synthetic-rubber suspension, and an ultra-low-mass Ogura Jewel Co. P9 elliptical stylus with Vital-style geometry. Its 0.5 mV output and wide 100–1,000 ohm recommended load range make it compatible with many high-quality MC phono stages. The cartridge is noted for extended treble, deep bass, articulate midrange, strong dynamics, and broad soundstaging. The Celebration II was subsequently superseded by the limited-edition Celebration 40.
