About the MDC-800

The Sumiko MDC-800, also called "The Arm," is a dynamic-balance gimbal-bearing tonearm with a 4-point gimbal ball race and cone bearing system, fixed headshell, decoupled counterweight, and spring-applied tracking force and anti-skating. It has an effective arm length of 228.6 mm (10.4 inches), a pivot-to-stylus distance of 9 inches, a recommended tracking force range of 0 to 1.5 grams, and interchangeable counterweights for cartridge matching. The arm uses silver-plated copper wiring with litz wire sections, gold-plated cartridge clips, and a three-point locking mounting base; a dedicated solid-aluminum mounting tool was supplied to simplify setup and cartridge changes.
