About the UA-7CF Carbon Fiber Arm
The Stax UA-7CF is an integrated 9-inch tonearm originally introduced as an upgrade to the standard UA-7 model by replacing the aluminum arm tube with a carbon fiber tube. This carbon fiber version was developed to address resonance issues found in various setups with the standard aluminum wand. It features a special dual suspension bearing, static balancing, and an oil-damped arm lifter. The headshell has a U-shaped non-resonant structure, and the output cable is a noiseless low capacitance type. The effective length is approximately 237-240mm, with a mounting distance of 227mm and an overhang of 13mm. The tonearm supports magnetic or condenser cartridges weighing between 2 to 16 grams. Despite the carbon fiber construction, the effective mass remains relatively high at about 16 grams due to the stub where the carbon fiber wand connects. The UA-7CF is praised for its build quality and is considered a step above the norm, offering excellent freedom from resonances and high rigidity, making it suitable for many heavier modern cartridges.
