About the SRM-T1
The Stax SRM-T1 is a hybrid headphone amplifier with a FET-input and vacuum tube output stage, operating in pure class-A and DC-coupled from input to output without capacitors or transformers in the audio path. It uses two 6FQ7/6CG7 vacuum tubes in its output stage and is housed in a non-magnetic case to prevent magnetic interference. The amplifier provides three parallel headphone audio outputs: two Professional outputs at 580 V DC and one Standard output at 230 V DC, making it compatible with all Stax electrostatic headphones from the original SR-1 to the modern SR-009. It has a maximum output of 300 V RMS at 1 kHz and a frequency response of DC to 20 kHz ±1 dB at 100 V RMS. The amplifier features a loop-through line-level input, allowing it to be inserted between other components without interrupting the signal path. It consumes approximately 45-49 Watts of power and weighs about 3.4 to 3.9 kg. The unit measures approximately 195 x 103 x 375 mm including tube humps and connectors. The SRM-T1 was Stax's first tube-output amplifier and was later replaced by the SRM-T1S model. It is highly regarded for its refined sound quality and ability to drive any Stax electrostatic headphones with low distortion and high output voltage.
