About the SRM-717
The STAX SRM-717 is a full-range high-output solid-state amplifier designed specifically for STAX electrostatic earspeakers. Released around 2000, it employs DC amplifying circuitry with dual FETs in the first stage and rugged emitter followers for low impedance and high reliability. It delivers a stable output voltage over 400V up to 10kHz, ensuring compatibility with high-resolution formats like DVD Audio and SACD. Key features include balanced XLR input, precision 4-gang volume control, non-magnetic chassis, no coupling capacitors, bypass mode for direct connection to preamps, and Pro Bias outputs. Widely regarded as one of STAX's best solid-state amps, especially for demanding models like SR-007. No longer manufactured.
