About the SRM-007t
The Stax SRM-007t is a vacuum tube headphone amplifier and electrostatic power supply designed specifically for driving Stax earspeakers. It employs a hybrid DC amplifier configuration combining transistor and valve technology to eliminate coupling capacitors, achieving pure uncolored sound. The output stage uses four 6FQ7/6CG7 vacuum tubes in parallel with non-inductive Dale wirewound resistors to improve dynamics and transparency. The amplifier features a pure balanced circuit with a low noise dual FET first stage and a high-quality 4-gang volume control for the balanced XLR input, minimizing sonic degradation. It delivers a frequency response from DC to 70 kHz with less than 0.01% harmonic distortion at 1 kHz and 100 V RMS output. Maximum output voltage is 340 V RMS, with bias voltages of 230 V and 580 V for different earspeaker models. The unit measures 195 mm wide, 103 mm high, and 420 mm deep, weighs 4.7 kg, and consumes 55 W of power. It supports RCA and XLR inputs and is favored by audiophiles for its clarity, dynamics, and transparency, making it suitable for high-resolution audio formats including SACD.
