About the ELS-F83
The STAX ELS-F83 is a large, passive, full-range electrostatic (condenser-type) floorstanding loudspeaker system introduced in December 1983. It uses two full-range electrostatic panels per speaker and is designed for high-fidelity reproduction with a wide bandwidth of approximately 35 Hz–20 kHz and relatively low sensitivity (around 76 dB/W/m). The panels are driven via a built-in step-up transformer and require external high-voltage bias supplied from the mains. Nominal impedance is specified as 4 Ω or higher, with maximum input power on the order of a few hundred watts (around 300 W short-term). Each speaker is tall and slim, roughly 1.9 m in height, and weighs about 36 kg, reflecting its line-source geometry and robust electrostatic construction.
