About the Ampzilla 2000 Second Edition
The Ampzilla 2000 Second Edition is a state-of-the-art monoblock power amplifier from Spread Spectrum Technologies, rated conservatively at 300 watts into 8Ω and 540 watts into 4Ω. It features twelve 250-watt output devices and a custom 2000VA transformer per monoblock, along with 100,000µF of power supply filtering and dual rectification. The amplifier uses a new variation of Forward Gain topology, achieving unprecedented linearity and smoothness, allowing it to be listened to open loop without feedback. The entire circuit is fully balanced from input to output, including a unique unbalanced-to-balanced converter for single-ended inputs. It includes a captive industrial-grade 12 gauge power cord welded on for maximum conductivity, and a second set of binding posts for bi-wiring or bi-amplification. The Ampzilla 2000 Second Edition is stable at any load angle from 0-90 degrees, capacitive or inductive, and below 1Ω. It has extremely low distortion (<0.05% THD), a damping factor greater than 250 at 20Hz, and noise better than -120dB relative to full rated power. The amplifier weighs approximately 50-58 lbs and measures 14 3/8" L x 11" W x 7 1/2" H. It is praised for its smooth, musical, and dynamic sound, comparable to high-end vacuum tube amplifiers but with superior bass and treble performance. The Ampzilla 2000 Second Edition is considered a long-term investment likely to be the last amplifier one would need.
