About the DMC-12 High Resolution
The Spectral DMC-12 High Resolution Preamplifier is designed to deliver outstanding audio fidelity with a focus on high-speed transient response and ultra-wide stable bandwidth. It employs a cascode FET front end for maximum linearity and proprietary complementary power MOSFETs as output followers, achieving a very high and symmetrical slew rate with a lightning-fast rise time of 65 nanoseconds. The output stage is a miniature class A power amplifier capable of delivering up to half an ampere per channel, ensuring control over complex interconnect cables and low impedance power amplifiers. The DMC-12 is powered by the DMS-12 supply, which provides voltages typically associated with tube preamplifiers, resulting in a sense of openness, lack of strain, and crystal-clear dynamic resolution at all listening levels. The preamplifier features a modular design with high-quality components, multiple front panel controls including input selector, balance, output attenuation, mute, stereo/mono, stereo/reverse, and tape monitor switches, as well as internal controls for input trim, phono input impedance and gain selectors, and high-level gain selector. Rear panel connectors include a gold signal ground post. The DMC-12 is regarded as a classic in high-end audio, emphasizing purity of signal and long-term stability.
