Introduced in 2009, Soundsmith The Voice is a high-output moving iron phono cartridge that has won numerous product-of-the-year awards and is regarded as one of the best high-output cartridges available. It features a single crystal ruby cantilever and an Optimized Contour Line Contact stylus with a 0.100mm square nude diamond selected for low noise. The cartridge is engineered with specialized metallurgy to achieve very low moving mass, about 40% less than other moving iron designs, resulting in greater responsiveness, quick acceleration, superior damping, and outstanding tracking ability. It is designed to be used with moving magnet phono preamps, eliminating the need for transformers or ultra-high gain stages. The Voice offers a frequency response of 20-20,000 Hz ±1.0 dB, channel separation over 30 dB at 1000 Hz, and an output voltage of approximately 2.12 mV. It weighs around 6.8 to 9.2 grams depending on the version and requires a recommended tracking force of 1.3 to 1.6 grams (medium compliance) or 1.0 to 1.2 grams (high compliance special order). The cartridge is available in stereo and dual-coil mono versions and comes with a 1-year warranty. It is handmade in the USA and praised for its musicality and reference-quality sound at a reasonable price compared to competitors.
