About the Star
The SOTA Star is a suspended subchassis belt-drive turntable featuring a vacuum record hold-down system that firmly clamps the LP to the platter, reducing mid- and high-frequency mechanical noise and improving sound clarity. It has a four-point spring suspension, an internally damped multi-layer 14-15 lb cast platter with sapphire thrust plate and chrome steel bearing, and an electronic flywheel ultra-regulated power supply with synthesized sine-wave drive. The vacuum system runs at full power briefly to mate the record to the platter, then switches to maintenance mode to maintain suction silently. The platter mat is a vinyl-acrylic supermat with a molded silicone vacuum lip and anti-static groove damper mat. The turntable offers exceptional speed stability (±0.02%), very low wow & flutter (0.03%), and rumble (-84.5 dB DIN weighted), contributing to a natural, relaxed, and detailed sound with tight bass and precise imaging. It supports interchangeable tonearms and comes with optional finishes including oak, koa wood, African rosewood, and black lacquer. Dimensions are approximately 20.25" W x 7.5" H x 16.25" D. The Star is praised for its musicality, neutrality, and build quality, often described as the "Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett of turntables."
