About the Cosmos
The SOTA Cosmos turntable represents the pinnacle of SOTA's engineering with a focus on dynamic stability, environmental isolation, and precise control over vinyl resonance. It features a 4-point spring-suspended sub-chassis made from a single piece of 1-inch thick aircraft-grade aluminum, providing a stable and inert platform. The vacuum platter system uses a multi-layer 15-pound platter with a Vinyl Format Mat that matches the mechanical impedance of vinyl, creating a non-resonant record/mat/platter assembly. The vacuum hold-down system is electronically sensed, maintaining a low-pressure vacuum clamp to reduce warps and improve coupling without damaging records. The drive is a 24-pole A/C stepper motor with electronic speed control, belt-driven transmission, and speeds of 33 1/3 and 45 rpm with fine adjustment. The Cosmos is praised for its deep, detailed bass, wide soundstage, and low noise floor, making it capable of revealing subtle musical details with clarity and musicality. It comes with a dust cover, tonearm board, and customizable wood finishes such as African Rosewood, Mahogany, Figured Maple, and Italian Ebony. The Cosmos Eclipse upgrade adds advanced electronics and magnetic levitation platter improvements for even quieter operation and enhanced musical performance.
