The Sony STR-AN1000 is a 7.2-channel network AV receiver designed to deliver immersive home theater experiences with support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X object-based audio formats. It features six HDMI inputs (two supporting 8K and 4K/120Hz) and two HDMI outputs, enabling high-resolution video passthrough including HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced. The receiver includes Sony's proprietary 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology, which creates multiple phantom speakers around the room for a wider and more enveloping sound field, ideal for less-than-ideal speaker placements. It also incorporates Digital Cinema Auto Calibration IX (D.C.A.C. IX) for precise speaker distance, angle, sound pressure, and frequency response calibration using a supplied microphone. The STR-AN1000 supports wireless connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, and compatibility with Sonos systems. It delivers approximately 120 watts per channel at 6 ohms and supports speaker impedances from 6 to 16 ohms. Additional features include Dolby Height Virtualization for virtual height effects without physical height speakers, multi-zone audio with three zones, and compatibility with control systems like Control4, Savant, and Crestron. The receiver has a sleek, minimalist design inherited from the STR-DN1080 and offers a user-friendly interface with physical controls and a compact remote. It is suitable for typical living rooms or studio apartments and supports gaming features such as Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).
