About the Maxima Amator

The Maxima Amator is the third member of Sonus faber's Heritage family, realizing a long-held dream of a two-way floorstanding speaker with a solid wood cabinet, completely made in Italy. It overcomes past challenges through modern wood drying, internal structural ribs, flexible glues, and CNC precision to prevent deformation. The IFF Crossover (Interactive Fusion Filtering) ensures seamless driver integration for homogeneous sound. The cabinet features solid walnut with brass inserts, hand-applied leather on front/rear panels, and Port Saint Laurent marble base. Divided into three chambers: first optimized for acoustic volume with multi-layer damping (recycled carbon fiber and silica fiber); second filled with inert material for stability and resonance control; third for the shielded crossover. Drivers match those in Electa Amator III: 28mm H28 XTR-04 Damped Apex Dome (DAD) tweeter with Neodymium motor and spruce wood rear chamber; 180mm MW18 XTR-04 mid-woofer with air-dried cellulose pulp, kapok, kenaf, and natural fibers on die-cast aluminum basket. Final tuning by ear in R&D room emphasizes passion, beauty, and Italian craftsmanship.
