About the ZP80
The Sonos ZP80 ZonePlayer is a compact, non-amplified extension module for the Sonos Digital Music System, providing wireless multi-room audio streaming without a built-in amplifier. It connects to existing home audio equipment via analog RCA and digital optical and coaxial outputs. The ZP80 supports a wide range of audio formats including MP3, WMA, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, Audible .AA, Apple Lossless, and FLAC, and can stream internet radio and music services like Rhapsody and Audible. It features a secure Sonosnet 802.11g-based wireless mesh network and includes two Ethernet ports for wired connections or network extension. The device has front panel volume and mute controls and is controlled primarily via a dedicated controller or software on PC/Mac. Its compact dimensions (5.4" W x 5.5" H x 2.9" D) and light weight (1.5 lbs) make it easy to place discreetly in a home environment. The ZP80 is ideal for integrating Sonos streaming capabilities into existing amplifiers or powered speakers and can be part of a multi-zone system with up to 32 ZonePlayers.
