The Soliloquy 5.3 is a high-fidelity floorstanding loudspeaker designed with a narrow face and rear-ported enclosure. It features one 1.125" coated silk-dome tweeter and two 5.25" poly-fiber-cone bass-midrange drivers with an 18dB/octave crossover at 2.4kHz. The speaker offers a frequency response from 35Hz to 20kHz, an impedance of 8 ohms nominal, and a sensitivity of 90dB/W/m, making it compatible with amplifiers rated from 8 to 300 watts. It weighs 80 lbs each and measures 38" high by 7.5" wide by 11" deep. The cabinet is available in finishes such as curly maple, cherry, and rosewood. The 5.3 is praised for its clear, open, and transparent sound with good bass attack, crystalline treble, and a pleasant midrange. It requires a break-in period of approximately 500 hours for optimal performance. The speaker is suitable for use with both low-powered tube amplifiers and more powerful solid-state amps, with recommended amplifier power between 10-15 watts for good bass control. It was developed through an iterative design process and is considered a musical and dynamic speaker with a slightly warm tonal character after break-in.
