About the Type J III
The Snell Type J III is a bookshelf loudspeaker system continuing Peter Snell's tradition of simple, high-quality design. It features a 2-way crossover at 2700Hz, with an 8-inch Vifa M21WN-07-04 woofer and a 1-inch Vifa D26TG-05-006 dome tweeter. The cabinet is constructed with plywood and chipboard for rigidity, finished in oak or walnut veneer, and measures 23 x 13 x 10 inches, weighing 35 pounds. It has a frequency response of 49Hz to 20kHz, a sensitivity of 91dB, and an impedance of 6 ohms. The crossover network uses quality air core inductors, electrolytic and film capacitors, and includes an L-pad for tweeter level adjustment. The design is well-suited for valve amplifiers due to its good sensitivity and easy load. The speakers have a black cloth grille and are recommended for use with amplifiers from 15 to 150 watts.
