About the SAP-1

The SMSL SAP-1 is a compact desktop stereo headphone amplifier with RCA and 3.5 mm line inputs, a 6.35 mm headphone output, and a Texas Instruments TPA6120A2 amplifier chip. It provides up to 270 mW per channel into 32 ohms, with rated outputs of 170 mW at 64 ohms, 88 mW at 150 ohms, and 48 mW at 300 ohms. The amplifier is commonly described as Class A, although the TPA6120A2's output stage is more accurately characterized as Class AB; the SAP-1 should therefore not be presented unambiguously as a discrete Class A design.
