About the R1

The SMSL R1 is a compact USB-powered desktop DAC and headphone amplifier aimed at HiFi, gaming, and communication use. It accepts USB, optical, and coaxial digital sources and provides 3.5 mm single-ended and 4.4 mm balanced headphone outputs, plus a line output for an external amplifier or powered speakers. It also includes a microphone connection and adjustable bass and treble controls. Published specifications are inconsistent: SMSL/manual-derived listings report 120 mW at 32 ohms, while some retailer listings advertise substantially higher balanced-output power and different DAC-chip information. The figures below distinguish the commonly repeated manual specifications from conflicting third-party claims.
