About the 20/3

The SME Model 20/3 is a three-speed, belt-drive precision turntable featuring a heavily engineered suspended sub-chassis, extensive damping, and a separate electronic power and speed-control system. Its 3-phase inductance motor uses eight-pole neodymium magnets and three Hall-position sensors, with microprocessor-controlled feedback for stable 33 1/3, 45, and 78 rpm operation. The turntable measures 440 x 350 x 173.5 mm and weighs approximately 31 kg net, excluding shipping packaging. Tonearm and package configurations vary; the Model 20/3 was commonly supplied with or configured for SME tonearms, including the Series V. The Model 20/3 is an earlier SME model and has been superseded in the range by the Model 20 MK2.
