About the 15

The SME Model 15 (including the current Model 15 MK2) is a precision, full-size suspended subchassis turntable inspired by the larger Model 20, combining high-density construction with a compact footprint to deliver dynamic, low-colouration sound performance. Its advanced 3-phase, brushless motor drive system and outboard speed control unit provide highly accurate and stable rotation at 33 and 45 rpm, with fine speed adjustment for optimal pitch accuracy. The turntable uses a high-mass, split-level chassis, fluid-damped suspension towers, and a heavy precision-machined aluminium platter to minimise vibration and external interference, allowing the cartridge to retrieve very high levels of detail from the groove. An external power supply and separate speed control unit further isolate the deck from mains-borne noise and mechanical vibration. It is offered either as a turntable only or bundled with SME tonearms such as the Series 309, Series IV, or Series V, all wired internally with Crystal Cable.
