About the Transporter
The Slim Devices Transporter is a premium network music player designed for audiophiles, featuring a 325 MHz multi-threaded RISC processor, 8MB audio buffer, and SlimDSP software-based digital signal processor. It supports WiFi 802.11g and Ethernet connectivity, enabling access to local music libraries and internet music services via Logitech's SqueezeCenter and SqueezeNetwork. The Transporter uses an AKM AK4396 multi-bit delta-sigma DAC capable of 24-bit/96kHz playback, with balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs, as well as multiple digital inputs and outputs including TosLink, coaxial, BNC S/PDIF, AES/EBU, and a word clock input for synchronization. It features a dual fluorescent display with configurable information and a tactile feedback control knob (TransNav). The device employs separate linear power supplies for analog, DAC, and clock circuits based on Walt Jung's super regulator design, ensuring low noise and jitter. It supports a wide range of audio formats including WAV, AIFF, MP3, WMA, FLAC, and Apple Lossless, with digital volume control and selectable attenuation. The Transporter is housed in a sleek chassis with professional rack handles and offers extensive connectivity including RS-232 for home automation and IR input/output. It was introduced around 2006-2007 and is regarded as a no-compromise digital music server for high-definition audio playback.
