The Moon Audio CDP-1, also known as the Moon CD-1, is a high-end CD player from Canadian brand Simaudio Moon. It incorporates advanced digital and analog circuitry, including a Burr Brown PCM1793 24-bit/192kHz DAC with 8x oversampling and internal upsampling up to 24-bit/352.8kHz. The player features a fully customized CD transport mechanism designed in-house for reliability and performance, a bi-directional RS-232 port for custom installations, a large bright red display, and an IR input for external control. It is powered by a 25 VA toroidal transformer with 13,200µF of power supply capacitance, ensuring stable and clean power delivery. The analog and digital circuits are on a single board but have separate ground tracks to minimize interference. The CD-1 is noted for its bold, exuberant sound with great timing, fine midrange, and a hint of richness that makes it sound larger than its price suggests.
