The Simaudio Moon 300D V.2 DAC is a dedicated digital-to-analog converter that offers exceptional sound quality through its Burr Brown PCM1793 24-bit/192kHz DAC chip with 8x oversampling and internal upsampling to 24-bit/352.8kHz. It supports digital inputs including USB-B (limited to 16-bit/48kHz), two S/PDIF coaxial, and one optical TosLink, with both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog outputs. The unit features an oversized power supply with eight stages of voltage regulation and a large capacitor bank (13,200µF) to ensure stable and clean power delivery. It employs an asynchronous sample rate converter and a proprietary digital clocking system to minimize jitter and digital artifacts. The analog signal path includes a DC servo circuit and proprietary analog filter, with pure copper circuit board tracings for low impedance. The chassis is rigid and vibration-resistant, with a brushed anodized front panel. The 300D V.2 also includes an IR input for external control and is designed to be powered on continuously for optimal performance. Sonically, it delivers clean, fast, and extended bass, open midrange, and airy treble with excellent dynamics and detail.
