About the ZL120
The Silicon Arts Design ZL-120 is a monoblock power amplifier configured as a bridged amplifier, achieving voltage swing between in-phase and inverted-phase input signals. It features a high-performance OpAmp input buffer stage, a phase-inverting gain stage, and a Class A driver stage that drives a push-pull output stage with paralleled MOSFET pairs. The amplifier uses local negative feedback only, with no global feedback, to maintain sonic integrity. Input impedance is selectable via a rear panel switch between 20 kOhm and 100 kOhm to accommodate various preamplifiers. The ZL-120 delivers 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms, with a frequency response from 0.5 Hz to 100 kHz (-0.8 dB), and a voltage gain of 20 dB. It is noted for a sound that defies easy classification as tube or solid state, offering a coherent and harmonically rich presentation with excellent soundstage and microdynamic detail. Dimensions are 450 mm (W) x 150 mm (H) x 360 mm (D).
