The Shure V15 III Super-Tracker is a legendary phono cartridge designed for audiophiles seeking superior sound quality and tracking ability. It features a hyperelliptical nude diamond stylus (0.7 by 0.2 mil elliptical) and operates with a recommended tracking force between 0.75 and 1.25 grams. The cartridge delivers an output voltage of 3.5 mV at 1000 Hz and 5 cm/sec, with a frequency response spanning 10 to 25,000 Hz. It offers excellent channel separation of at least 25 dB at 1000 Hz and 15 dB at 10,000 Hz. The V15 III is noted for its outstanding trackability, capable of tracking modulation velocities up to 70 µm at 315 Hz, which helps preserve record and stylus life. It requires a loading capacitance of 400 to 500 picofarads and a load resistance of approximately 47,000 ohms, though it can tolerate up to 70,000 ohms with minimal frequency response change. The cartridge weighs about 6 grams and mounts with standard 12.7 mm centers. It is recognized for its flat frequency response and natural, detailed sound reproduction, making it one of the best-tracking cartridges available.
