The Shunyata Research Hydra series includes various models like the Hydra Model-8, Model-6, and Model-2, each offering advanced power conditioning capabilities. These products are designed to improve audio quality by filtering out noise and protecting equipment from power surges and spikes. The Hydra series utilizes Shunyata's Trident Defense System, which includes the Venom Filter, thermal metal-oxide varistors (TMOVs), and Carling electromagnetic circuit breakers. These components work together to eliminate over-voltage spikes and provide high levels of over-voltage and peak-current protection. The Hydra Model-8, for example, is rated for 2400 watts of continuous power delivery and features eight outlets, with half dedicated to analog and half to digital use. It uses massive solid-copper buss bars for full current delivery without inductive current limiting. The Hydra series does not use transformers or coils, ensuring minimal impedance alteration and overheating. Additionally, the products are equipped with proprietary Venom silver outlets and utilize FeSi-1002, a granular synthetic substrate, to absorb harmful AC contaminants without dampening high-frequency energy.
