About the Mpingo Disc

The Shun Mook Mpingo Disc is designed to control and regulate the resonance of any sonic component in a HiFi system. Made from a combination of Gaboon and Mpingo Ebony woods treated with a proprietary process, the disc resonates throughout the audible spectrum when excited by external acoustic energy. This resonance helps override unwanted harmonic distortions and enriches musical reproduction. The disc acts as a pseudo acoustic diffuser, improving room acoustics and integrating nonlinear acoustic characteristics into materials and sound sources. It is simple to use by placing one to three discs on top of preamps, CD transports, DA converters, turntables, or other components. The discs have a logo on one side and a pointer on the edge to adjust tonal balance by orientation. The product has been in use for many years and is based on the principle of sympathetic resonance from physics.
