About the Short
The Shindo Short amplifier is a highly regarded, limited edition mono block amplifier produced by Shindo Laboratory. It uses original Western Electric 300B tubes from 1988, along with RCA 5R4 and Western Electric 310a tubes, all NOS (New Old Stock). The amplifier delivers 8 watts of power in Class A operation and is designed for use with very efficient loudspeakers of more than 90dB sensitivity and a maximum input power of less than 50 watts. It features an input level controller, unbalanced input via Cannon Jack/XLR, and a frequency response of 20-30,000Hz ±3dB at 1 watt output. The amplifier is noted for its dynamic, revealing sound that retains the classic 300B tube character but with enhanced presence and detail. It is dead quiet on sensitive horn speakers and is considered almost impossible to obtain new as it is no longer produced. The unit weighs 19.5 kg and measures 405 mm wide, 220 mm high, and 260 mm deep. Power consumption is 80W with power requirements of AC 117V or 220-230V 50/60Hz. The amplifier comes with original packing, EU power cords, and paperwork. This model is highly collectible and prized for its sound quality and rarity.
