About the Acoustics Arc 2
The Shahinian Acoustics Arc 2 is a refined evolution of the original Arc speaker, embodying over 30 years of loudspeaker geometry research by Richard Shahinian. It is a three-way system with four drivers, designed to reproduce natural instruments and voices with exceptional clarity and spatial presentation. The speaker features a rear-mounted passive radiator design with an 8-inch polypropylene curvilinear cone woofer, a 38mm titanium ultralight exposed dome midrange, and a 1-inch titanium-neodymium supertweeter. It delivers ample and clear bass down to 28Hz, with minimal Doppler interference, making bass drum explosions and organ pedals notably impactful without overwhelming tonal weight. The Arc 2's vertical and angular indirect sound projection creates a spacious and effortless listening experience, distinguishing it from conventional speakers. The cabinet is made from Finland birch plywood with finishes available in light/natural oak, cherry, walnut, or black. Dimensions are approximately 14 ¼” wide, 27 ½” high, and 9 ¾” deep, weighing about 33 lbs. The speaker has a nominal impedance of 6 ohms, sensitivity of 87 dB, and can handle up to 250 watts of power. It is praised for its musical transparency, imaging, and ability to fill space naturally, making it suitable for a variety of room placements and listening preferences.
