About the Vidar 2

The Schiit Audio Vidar 2 is a fully discrete, current-feedback Class A/B stereo/mono power amplifier rated at 100W RMS per channel into 8 ohms, 200W RMS per channel into 4 ohms, or 400W RMS into 8 ohms when operated in bridged mono. It uses a linear power supply with a 600VA transformer, dual-mono main rails, and a fully complementary bipolar output stage with no capacitors in the signal path. A microprocessor-controlled protection system monitors operating conditions and can shut the amplifier down in response to faults. The amplifier has stereo RCA inputs, an XLR input for mono operation, five-way binding posts, a front-panel standby control, and a fanless chassis measuring approximately 9 x 13 x 3.875 inches. It weighs approximately 30 pounds. The Vidar 2 uses a traditional linear Class A/B design rather than Class D modules or a switching power supply. Forkbeard control is associated with the later Vidar 2F variant, not the standard Vidar 2.
