About the Syn

The Syn is a compact component that combines a DAC, remote-controlled preamplifier, surround processor/upmixer, and headphone amplifier in one chassis. It uses a fully discrete main gain stage for the stereo channels and provides surround output from any input source, making it suitable for media rooms, stereo listening setups, and desktops. It supports USB, optical, and analog inputs, offers user-adjustable surround parameters such as width and presence, and includes a powerful discrete headphone amp with a microphone input for gaming. Volume and input selection are handled via a remote control and front-panel volume knob. Schiit describes it as a remote-control DAC/preamp that also adds surround to a serious stereo rig.
