The Sansui TU-X1 is a high-end AM/FM stereo tuner produced between 1979 and 1982. It features separate FM and AM tuner sections with independent tuning controls and meters, housed in a sturdy chassis. The tuner is designed for audiophiles, offering extremely accurate reception and superior amplification comparable to Sansui's best integrated amplifiers. It has a 7-gang FM front-end tuning capacitor for exceptional sensitivity and selectivity, and uses advanced circuitry including LC filters and a Murata SAW filter for excellent signal purity. The TU-X1 delivers a frequency response of 20 Hz to 15 kHz with very low distortion (0.02% THD) and a high signal-to-noise ratio (up to 86 dB). It weighs 16.2 kg and measures 480 x 197 x 450 mm. The sound quality is praised for its massive soundstage, dynamic three-dimensional imaging, rich tone with extended bass and treble, and very low noise floor. It is considered one of the best stock tuners ever made, with a premium build and audiophile-grade performance.
