The Sansui 9090, produced between 1975 and 1977, is a high-output stereo receiver offering 110 watts continuous per channel into 8 ohms with less than 0.2% total harmonic distortion. It features a highly selective FM front-end with sophisticated electronic design, four meters (power for each channel, signal strength, tuning), power protection circuitry, and LED indicators. The receiver includes triple tone controls with selectable turnover points, two tape deck terminals, Dolby FM/4-channel adapter facility, and connections for three sets of speakers. It has a wide dynamic range with precise phono equalization, MPX noise reduction, and a large, weighted tuning knob. The unit is housed in a real walnut veneer wood case with a silver and black faceplate and blue illumination. It is known for excellent build quality, heat dissipation, and classic Sansui sound with a rich, wide soundstage. The receiver weighs approximately 23.3 kg and measures 540 x 182 x 397 mm. It was highly regarded for its price-to-performance ratio and remains a sought-after collector's item today. The 9090DB is a related model with Dolby noise reduction circuitry and higher power output but is known to have some reliability issues with the Dolby board.
