Released in 2017, the Samsung UBD-M8500 is a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player designed to deliver high-quality video and audio playback. It supports true 4K UHD resolution with HDR10 for stunning brightness and deeper contrast, offering a wider and more lifelike color spectrum that surpasses conventional Blu-ray players. The player features UHD upscaling to enhance lower resolution content to near-4K quality. It supports advanced audio formats including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, providing immersive surround sound. The device includes Smart Hub for streaming services like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and YouTube, with built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity. Additional features include CD ripping to MP3, optical digital audio output, HDMI 2.0a output with HDCP 2.2 support, and Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) for simplified control with compatible Samsung devices. The player has a curved design with a front LED display and a front USB port for external storage. It supports playback of Blu-ray, DVD, CD, and various media formats such as MKV, WMV, and JPEG. Dimensions are approximately 16" x 1.76" x 9.05" and it weighs about 4.19 lbs. The UBD-M8500 is no longer in production but remains a capable player for 4K UHD content and smart streaming.
