About the Michi S5

The Michi S5 is Rotel's flagship stereo power amplifier, delivering 500 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 800 watts per channel into 4 ohms in a Class AB, dual-mono design. Each channel is powered by its own in-house-designed 2200VA toroidal transformer housed in epoxy-filled enclosures to minimize noise and vibration, feeding four large British bulk capacitors that provide 188,000µF of energy storage for powerful, controlled bass and wide dynamic range. A bank of 32 high-current output transistors ensures stable drive into demanding loudspeakers with low distortion (<0.008% THD) and a wide frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz. Connectivity includes one pair each of balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs, dual sets of heavy-duty 5-way rhodium-plated speaker binding posts per channel for easy bi-wiring, plus Ethernet, RS232, and 12V trigger connections to integrate with control and automation systems. The front panel features a large color display that can show power meters and spectrum analysis, with configuration via the included remote control. The understated, all-black chassis with glass front and substantial heat-sinking completes a robust, high-end industrial design.
